Richard Azzarello

Mr. Azzarello has partnered with Vitesse Solutions on leading strategic client engagements since 2008. His focus is on the development and execution of clients’ knowledge management (KM) strategies, leading and mentoring implementation teams, and managing client relationships. Richard has in-depth experience in all aspects of KM solutions. With over 25 years of experience, he was a founding member of IBM Global Services’ Knowledge Management Consulting Practice. While at IBM, he led the authorship of their KM Consulting Methodology, all associated service offerings (from KM Strategy and Development of Communities, to Knowledge Portals and other technologies), and developed and delivered related education and training to over 450 consultants across 3 continents.
He has additional experience in other business transformation areas including: Change Management, Process Innovation, Talent Management and Organizational Development. He also authored performance improvement methodologies and related services offerings for Ernst & Young.
Richard has delivered a number of strategic KM solutions with real and measurable results. The first was an award-winning comprehensive solution for IBM Global Services, spanning 125,000 employees in 159 countries. This 3-year effort included a KM Strategy, the establishment and enablement of communities of practice, and the design and development of enabling technologies. Additional KM clients include: AgipKCO, NCOC, Cargill, Caterpillar, Kraft Foods, Spherion, MasterCard, and The World Bank.
Richard holds an MBA from Rutgers University and a BA in Theatre from SUNY-Buffalo. He is an adjunct professor at Long Island University where he teaches Knowledge Management in a graduate level Computer and Information Sciences program. He is a frequent speak on KM topics in the US and Europe. He is founder and president of Reality Consulting, Inc., a firm that partners with Vitesse Solutions to enhance delivery capability in accelerated knowledge sharing solutions. He is also the founder and president of The Patio Daddy-O Foundation, a philanthropic interest, raising funds through public performances and providing arts education scholarships to deserving youth. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Houston Blues Society, and is an accomplished saxophonist.
