When embarking in a new direction or making a major strategic investment, sometimes organizations need to accelerate the process by which they create their strategic direction.  In such cases, seeking solutions through traditional consulting techniques might not always be the best approach.  Vitesse has developed a service where organizations can bring their decision-making team into a unique environment that is especially designed to be conducive to accelerating the development of creative solutions. Our Accelerated Inquiry Workshops (AIW) are designed to promote creativity and accelerate a client's understanding of complex issues that normally take much longer when using standard consulting techniques.

Executives and decision-makers work together with our team in an isolated environment for a short period - normally about 2-5 days -- where they interact in an open, facilitated environment.  The environment and process are facilitated to control the maximum output in a short period of time.

The AIWs are designed using the concepts of Appreciative Inquiry, which focuses on optimizing what organizations do well, rather than attempting things they cannot do.  While the main processes within Appreciative Inquiry are commonly labeled: Definition, Discover, Dream, Design, Deliver, Vitesse has enveloped these steps toward accelerated solutions through 3 phases within the AIW: Learn, Reflect and Apply.

  1. Learn phase: The improvement issue(s) at hand are clarified and then things that organization and its people do best are identified.  Successful initiatives and how they were achieved are identified as well as the tools, techniques and change management processes used. These successful principles are then applied to the improvement situation(s) at hand.
  2. Reflect phase: Ideas are formulated around the improvements being sought, applying the strengths of the organization and its people.  The ideas are evaluated and developed in an experiential environment where participants can visualize the progress and results of different scenarios versus one another, all in the context of their working environment.
  3. Apply phase:  The strategy, tactical plan and even projects with milestones are designed and agreed upon.  Formal and informal follow-ups are planned with opportunities to continuously improve on the strategy, in process, as the dynamics of the workplace and marketplace affect the on-going implementation and deployment of the planned improvements.

In some cases, an AIW is conducted in cooperation with the executive management program of a major university.

Why use an Accelerated Solutions Workshop

When examining, redefining or planning for organizational changes that will affect the culture, such as IT or Knowledge Management implementations, it is often difficult and time consuming for organizations to weigh the effects of alternative strategic options.  Dedicating selected people to a deep, concentrated environment where specific goals and objectives are set will often greatly accelerate the planning and decision-making process.  The result is generally a deeper understanding of what it will take to accomplish the planned changes and a strategy to move forward.

The AIW is designed to produce the maximum effort of ideas and interaction to illuminate the participants' awareness of the issues and solutions, then produce more informed and creative decisions and strategies.  Creative use of workshop stimuli, expert facilitation, and guidance from experienced subject-matter experts strongly accelerates the process of learning, analyzing and developing a solution strategy.

Why it is important to hire the right consultant

When searching for the optimal service provider, organizations look for people that can work with and be respected by their team and can add expertise that cannot be found in-house.  It is that combination of high-valued expertise expertise and the ability to transfer that expertise, through the team and into improvements, that creates the value of a consultant.

When hiring a consultant, organizations must ask themselves "what value does this consultant bring to us?"  Vitesse Solutions has access to highly experienced individuals that have worked with multitudes of different teams in varying industries to provide a proven track record of of successful implementations.
